Carolina Panthers

Are the Panthers allowed to draft any more defensive players? Is it legal? In 2020, Matt Rhule came from the college ranks and decided that it was time to turn this franchise in a new direction. The Carolina Panthers then drafted only defensive players in the 2020 NFL draft. Headlined By Derrick Brown and Jeremy Chinn, the Panthers’ rookie class looks extremely promising thus far.

The best thing about Joseph Ossai is his ability to play in multiple schemes and be moved around. Phil Snow, defensive coordinator for the Panthers, runs multiple fronts as well. Ossai can play reps as a traditional off ball linebacker in addition to his reps as a pass rusher. Carolina has other versatile players already like Jeremy Chinn strapping up for them.

Matt Rhule’s team building philosophies are very similar to what they were in college. At Baylor, Rhule was unable to get top recruits, so he decided to take kids with all the physical tools and mold them into quality players. It is widely expected that a player like Ossai would be high on his list, as Ossai is a very moldable player.

An addition of Ossai to a Carolina front that has taken some positive strides would be a great boost. Brain Burns looks like he’s turning the corner and becoming one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. The aforementioned Yetur Gross-Matos and Derrick Brown look like young cornerstones of a defense that will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.
