2. Atlanta Falcons
Todd Gurley is the starting running back for the Atlanta Falcons. Need I say anymore? While Gurley is still talented and very serviceable, he’s not the same running back we are accustomed to seeing. He’s also slated to be an unrestricted free agent in 2021. A 26-year-old running back with knee concerns, I’ll pass. Next up we have Brian Hill. Another serviceable and change of pace type running back who’s mainly a complementary piece on the roster. Ito Smith is on the roster, but he also is not a guy any franchise plans on starting for 16 game season.
With a new head coach and general manager search going on, you can be sure the new men in charge will want to get younger and cheaper at the position. Atlanta is currently ranked 25th in the league averaging 98.3 rushing yards per game. The Falcons have had one running back run for 100 yards or more just once all season.
For a team like the Falcons who should be looking to upgrade at the running back position, Hubbard should be in their sights. Hubbard has the production and talent that some teams will look for. Not to mention, his combine numbers will draw even more interest when that time comes.
