A sleeper receiver is off to the 2021 NFL Draft
Former Kent State wide receiver and NFL Draft riser, Isaiah McKoy is headed to the NFL Draft. Yesterday, the former standout receiver took to Twitter to announce he would be forgoing his last remaining year of eligibility to enter the 2021 NFL Draft.
McKoy joined the Kent State program in 2018 as a freshman, and was an immediate impact player for the Golden Flashes. In his rookie campaign, McKoy made nine starts for the program. He was able to rack up 42 receptions on the season, for 423 yards and three touchdowns. McKoy’s breakout season came the following year as a sophomore.
Firmly established as the team’s go-to option, McKoy torched MAC defense to the tune of 872 yards on 56 receptions and eight touchdowns.
This season was largely more of the same for the star receiver. Though the program has only been able to play four games on the season to this point, McKoy has made the most of it. Through four games, McKoy has been on a torrid pace. His yards per reception has spiked to over 18 yards per catch, and he’s hauled in over 450 yards and 5 touchdowns on just 25 receptions. All this culminating in today’s announcement. But it begs the question: What are McKoy’s draft prospects?
McKoy has more than established he possesses the big-play ability NFL coordinators dream of. He’s exhibited quite the rapport with his quarterback, and he’s been able to put up big numbers in a conference with a growing reputation. In his most recent big board release at Pro Football Network, NFL Draft guru Tony Pauline has McKoy slotted with a sixth round grade. The postseason process will be important for McKoy to raise that grade, but it’s obvious the talent is there with the Golden Flash product.
