Buccaneers: 4 EDGE prospects to get younger defensively
By Loren Miller
3. Gregory Rousseau – Miami (Fl)
Rousseau opted out of the 2020 season to enter the NFL Draft. His size and production in his redshirt freshman season in 2019 make him look like he is a top 15 pick in April’s draft. In case he slips to the 20’s, this is a guy that would be a big-time get for the Bucs at the edge to replace JPP.
In 2019, he had 15.5 sacks, 19.5 tackles for a loss, and two forced fumbles. His motor and length are excellent especially taking on double teams. He definitely looks the part at 6’7 and 265 lbs, even though I would like to see what he looks like now after training this season instead of playing. If he adds more muscle to his frame then the sky is the limit with this player at the next level.
My only concern is, he had one great year in the ACC but he never played Clemson who featured two offensive tackle prospects in Jackson Carman Tremayne Anchrum. His two best games of the season were against an awful Florida State team and a mediocre Pittsburgh team.
I doubt he makes it to the Bucs with the projected draft positioning but whoever gets this kid will have a special talent on their roster with room for growth.
