4. Hamilcar Rashed, Jr. -Oregon State

Coming from a program that was probably one of the worst in the Power 5 the past decade and not having a ton of defensive lineman being drafted recently, Rashed probably isn’t the top name media are talking about like Kwity Paye or Rousseau but he will be.

As a sophomore in 2019, he had 14 sacks and 62 tackles and as a junior in 2020, he had 23 tackles in seven games. In a truncated 2020 season where his team only played seven games, Rashed tallied 23 tackles and one forced fumble.

Zack Patraw of The Dynasty Draft Room gives his thoughts on Rashed Jr.:

"“He clearly has plenty of athleticism and flexibility to him. He has good bend around the corner and flexible ankles to give him the ability to cut back inside to set up the tackle. His most reliable move is the cross-chop to swim. He seems to work well when he’s cutting back inside on the tackle. He has a hot motor and is always looking to get into the play. He squares the ball carrier up nicely and makes a good wrap-up tackle.”"

At 6’4 245lbs, he would be inserted in the spot occupied by Barrett or JPP on the edge. I really like his motor and his effort to chase down ball carriers even when he is on the opposite side of the field. Watching some clips of his play last year, he really does not give up until the whistle blows even when he is engaged and tangled up with the offensive lineman. He also has a great first step and swim move off the edge, I watched a couple of his highlights where he makes the blocker completely miss him with the move and it resulted in him staying at home and making the tackle.

At 6’4 245lbs, he would be inserted in the spot occupied by Barrett or JPP on the edge. I would take him in the second round and hope he develops into an every-down edge linebacker.
