Round 2: Pick 56 -Landon Dickerson – Center – Alabama

This past offseason, the inevitable departure of franchise cornerstone Marshal Yanda came to fruition. The eight time Pro Bowl guard called it quits after being with the organization since he was drafted in 2007.  And to put it lightly, the Baltimore Ravens have struggled to make up for Yanda’s absence.

During free agency, the Baltimore Ravens added D.J. Fluker via free agency in addition to selecting Tyre Phillips and Ben Bredeson during the draft. The three have struggled to put up an length of consistency in Yanda’s stead. Additionally, center Matt Skura has struggled mightily since coming back from a brutal injury he suffered in 2019. Skura is a pending free agent and after being benched at one point during the season, his time in Charm City seems to be over.

Alabama center Landon Dickerson is a plug and play starter at the next level, who can offer some stability for the future. What he lacks in pure athleticism, Dickerson makes up for with his strength and physicality. Dickerson does a great job at squaring himself up for drive blocks, using his strong hands to pop players at the point of attack. In pass protection, Dickerson does a good job of keeping his head on a constant swivel, showing good awareness for what’s occurring around him, constantly looking for contact.

Although Dickerson may not be for everyone, in the Baltimore Ravens run-heavy offensive attack, he may just be a perfect fit.
