New Orleans Saints

The Saints have gone all-in on a Super Bowl run while they still have Drew Brees, who signed a two-year $50 million contract prior to the season. Unfortunately for New Orleans, Brees has missed multiple games to injury, and has looked washed when he’s been on the field. With the only other options being Taysom Hill and Jameis Winston, it seems like the better play is to just repeat the process and hope that Brees can find the fountain of youth for the playoffs.

That also means preparing for the mass exodus of talent that is going to occur over the next few offseasons. The team is currently almost $100 million over the salary cap for 2021, which is kind of a problem. Hill’s salary is going to almost quadruple, and Ryan Ramczyk, David Onyemata, Janoris Jenkins, and Nick Easton also have massive increases in their cap hits. Star corner Marshon Lattimore is set to play on his fifth-year option, and it’s really hard to see a path to the team being able to re-sign him.

Stokes would be able to contribute right away on a Super Bowl run and provide at least some insurance against a Lattimore departure, no matter how devastating that would be.
