What is next for Dwayne Haskins?

Haskins is a long way away from being a starter in this league. He can throw the football; the talent is there in that aspect. His decision-making process is what needs to improve tremendously. Maybe, that’s why Jay Gruden was reluctant to throw him in the game as a rookie.  Being a first-round pick holds some weight in the NFL.

Opportunities will be thrown at him because of that reason alone. Nobody is questioning his talent. People are questioning his work ethic to get better. Haskins needs to go somewhere with a great culture and leadership. Somewhere he can benefit from sitting and learning from a veteran quarterback with experience.

The leash will now be short wherever he lands because he’s shown flaws that some organizations probably don’t want to deal with. He’s been a distraction in Washington and hasn’t shown much promise that he can be a leader on and off the football field. When a team does decide to give him an opportunity, they will need to sit him down and make sure he understands what is expected of an NFL quarterback. Although, Haskins should already know these things.

Change of scenery has been a good thing for struggling players in the past, and Josh Rosen is the latest example as he gets another shot with the San Francisco 49ers. Sadly, sometimes it takes negative situations like this for young players to realize what it takes to be successful in the real world. If he wants to be successful in this league, he’s going to have to prove everyone wrong and show that he’s willing to become the best version of himself.
