It’s time for the Lions to hit the reset button again

The Detroit Lions will not be in the postseason this year.

The Lions will be looking for a new head coach.

The Lions will be looking for a new general manager.

The Lions have question marks at almost every single position.

These are things that every NFL fan has heard many times before, and they are also things that are still currently happening. For Thanksgiving this year, the Lions decided that they were not thankful for the work of Head Coach Matt Patricia and General Manager Bob Quinn thus far, so they let them go the Saturday after being blown out against the Houston Texans.

Besides those two vacancies, there have been lots of speculation that quarterback Matthew Stafford may also not be back with the team next year. With several other players set to hit free agency, and only five draft picks as of right now, whoever takes over this franchise will have their hands full.

Seeing that the team is apparently in full rebuild mode, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to trade away some pieces or trade back in the first round for more picks. Having only five picks for a rebuild project is not a great start. As of now, we can only work with what we’ve got, and of course the player selections will greatly depend on who’s calling the shots in 2021 and for the 2021 NFL Draft.

The 2020 season is nearing the end, so the Lions’ head coach and general manager selections should be made sooner than later. For now, let’s see what we can get them in an early mock draft.
