Option 3: Draft a cornerback

Wide receiver and EDGE rusher are definitely the most pressing needs, but there is something to be said about the cornerback spot. The Giants added Pro Bowl cornerback James Bradberry to the team last offseason in what was a slam dunk free agent signing. But after cycling through Corey Ballentine, Ryan Lewis, Isaac Yiadom and then Julian Love to end the season across from Bradberry, there is a clear need to find a complement to play outside cornerback.

Similar to the aforementioned positions, cornerback is one that has talent in this draft with a handful that are obvious options at the 11th overall pick. Alabama’s Patrick Surtain II is an option that will likely go higher than the Giants’ pick, but it is a possibility. Virginia Tech’s Caleb Farley is also an option, but one of the better fits for the Giants’ defense is South Carolina’s Jaycee Horn.

The son of former NFL wide receiver Joe Horn, the younger Horn has put together an exceptional career for the Gamecocks. He possesses an excellent frame, should put up great numbers in workouts during the draft process, and shows a knack for feisty play on the perimeter in both man and zone coverages. Adding an outside presence like Horn would give the Giants a dynamic duo at cornerback, along with promising nickelback Darnay Holmes and a host of safeties to include Xavier McKinney, Logan Ryan and Jabrill Peppers. Even lacking a true pass rush, the Giants would boast one of the best secondaries on paper.
