3 teams with enough draft capital to trade for Deshaun Watson

3. Indianapolis Colts
Before you yell at me for even mentioning a team in the same division just hear me out. This may be the most unrealistic trade destination but we’re hypothetically speaking here. Philip Rivers is 39 years old and won’t be under contract after this season. He’s also made comments about retirement recently.
Rivers isn’t playing horrible but he’s most certainly not the long-term solution for Indianapolis. Jacoby Brissett is also an unrestricted free agent in 2021. Jacob Eason is on the roster but he’s not offering much in terms of starting capability. Moreover, not only do the Colts have the projected cap space to make this deal but they also have the draft capital that could possibly sway Houston for trade within the division.
The Colts would have to expect to get rid of picks 22 and 54 in 2021. Yes, there are holes to fill on the roster still but we are talking about a star quarterback in his prime. A first and second-round pick in 2022 will also be headed to Houston in this deal. Lastly, the 2023 first-round pick will most likely be gone as well.
As mentioned before, it’s extremely unlikely that this deal would be done but Houston needs to clear a ton of cap and recoup as much draft capital as they can. The Colts are a good football team and with a young and surging quarterback like Watson, the sky is the limit. Indianapolis made a splash trade in the offseason last year so anything can be on the table here with Chris Ballard.
