2. Samuel Cosmi, OT, Texas

The next scenario for the 19th overall pick isn’t a sexy one, but it’s necessary for building this offense. Washington takes Longhorn Offensive Tackle Samuel Cosmi. Penei Sewell and Christian Darrisaw have become consensus top tackles off the board and are not likely to make it this pick. The rest of this Offensive Tackle class becomes very blurry with how it will shake out. For Washington, I think Cosmi can be their franchise left tackle.

Unlike many other tackles in this class, Cosmi projects to stay at tackle, which is necessary for this team. He’s got NFL size and length, standing at six-foot-seven 310 pounds. He’s athletic and can block in space. I love his hands. He keeps them inside the pads and drives defenders off the ball. As a pass protector, Cosmi has good footwork and some flexibility to keep his anchor. He isn’t a mauler and do

esn’t possess great strength but has the frame to fill out some more.

Dan Schmelzer of NFL Mocks says Cosmi has a chance to be the second offensive tackle off the board:

"“Cosmi’s athleticism at the offensive tackle position consistently stands out and makes him a potential impact player at the next level. He could quickly grow into a real franchise left tackle, securing one of the most important offensive positions for his NFL team. Cosmi should undoubtedly be a first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and could easily challenge for OT2 behind Sewell.”"

In Washington, Cosmi can slide in as the starting left tackle and contribute to their zone blocking scheme. Building through the trenches has turned their defense into one of the best in the league, and it’s time they start doing it on offense.
