Round 2, Pick 43 – Wyatt Davis, OG, Ohio State

The offense could look very different next season after a revolving door at both the RB and QB positions in 2020. The calling card for the success of this offense is the zone rushing attack and continued pre-snap movement. The team ranked in the middle of the pack in rushing yards per game in 2020 (118.1) after coming in at second in the league in 2019 (144.1 per game).

The offensive line was also inconsistent and will need to improve if this team will compete for a Lombardi Trophy again. It all starts inside, where the 49ers need upgrades to continue their well-oiled rushing machine. While tackles Trent Williams and Mike McGlinchey remain a strength for this team, questions remain on the interior.

Davis was the top interior lineman in 2020 for the Buckeyes, a team that annually produces top talent at the position. He follows in a long line of tremendous Ohio State interior prospects like Michael Jordan, Billy Price, Jonah Jackson, Corey Linsley, Andrew Norwell, and Pat Elflein. Davis is a former five-star recruit that may be the best of the bunch and instantly become a day one starter for 49ers in the 2021 season.
