49ers land Jaycee Horn, more in 7-round 2021 NFL Mock Draft

Round 4, Pick 107 – Caden Sterns, S, Texas
Continuing with the theme of upgrading the secondary, San Francisco takes a trip to the Big 12 with another big-time safety prospect out of Texas. Sterns starred alongside Miami Dolphins’ 2020 NFL Draft pick Brandon Jones last season but emerged as a legitimate prospect himself this season for the Longhorns.
Sterns accumulated 52 tackles, an interception, and three pass breakups in an abbreviated 2020 junior season before opting out on November 30th to begin his 2021 NFL Draft preparation. He will add tremendous depth to this team and could challenge for a starting safety spot as a rookie.
Round 5, Pick 138 – Chris Rumph II, EDGE, Duke
As mentioned, the 49ers suffered a massive amount of injuries on both offense and defense in 2020. Those losses included their 2019 first-round pick and star defensive end Nick Bosa. The team also traded away defensive tackle DeForest Buckner before the 2020 campaign. Therefore, the unit struggled mightily and could use some reinforcements upfront.
Rumph has ideal size as a hybrid edge rusher in this 2021 NFL Draft class. He stands 6-4, 235 pounds, and tied for 13th in the nation this past season with eight sacks. He is one of the quickest edge rushers available in this class and will ease the burden upfront until Bosa returns to full strength for this San Francisco defense.
