Round 6, Pick 192 – Master Teague, RB, Ohio State

Another position on this team that could use some juice is the RB position. The 49ers have found success with lesser-known commodities such as Jeff Wilson Jr. And Raheem Mostert but should continue to add potential playmakers this offseason. After another injury-plagued season for the 2020 starter Mostert, he will likely enter 2021 as the change-of-pace option behind Wilson Jr. after his late-season surge. Of course, the 49ers will need to prioritize re-signing Wilson Jr., as he is slated to become a free agent this offseason.

One player that could complement these two nicely is Buckeyes RB Master Teague. The physical runner entered 2020 in a committee with former Sooner Trey Sermon and provided a nice one-two punch for Ohio State. Another productive runner in a long line of Ohio State prospects, Teague can grind out tough yards inside and give the team a potential goal-line option as early as next season.

Round 7, Pick 202 – Ian Book, QB, Notre Dame

The 49ers have experienced their share of ups and downs at the quarterback position. Unfortunately, this past season was a tough one for San Francisco at the all-important QB spot. A year after leading his team to the Super Bowl, Jimmy Garoppolo’s play fell off, and then an injury ended his season early. Nick Mullens and C.J. Beathard are barely NFL quality backups, let alone starting options for the 49ers.

Just as they did with Garoppolo, I could see the team taking the outside approach to fix the position once again. Several veteran options could be available via trade or free agency like Matthew Stafford, Deshaun Watson, and Jameis Winston. If they do no choose that route, Ian Book could be a decent late-round option to groom for the future. Book is a gutsy player that can make most of the tough throws and will his team to victory as he did many times with the Fighting Irish in 2020.
