Round 2, Pick 58: Tylan Wallace, WR, Oklahoma State

The Browns need an outside vertical threat, and Wallace might be the best one in the class. At 6-0 190 pounds, he’s not physically large, but he plays big. He’s produced at a high level, catching 205 passes for 3,434 yards and 26 touchdowns during his career, and offers the speed and ball skills need to win consistently on the outside in the NFL.

Wallace played almost exclusively on the right side of the field for the Cowboys, and mostly released to the outside. It remains to be seen how versatile he’ll be at the next level, and whether his skillset is actually limited or if he was just limited by scheme.

What he does show on tape is the ability to get outside and win deep against pretty much any cornerback, and plays the ball extremely well in the air. He has excellent body control and tracks the ball with ease. He makes spectacular catches look routine, but isn’t necessarily a flashy player. He consistently creates downfield separation and demands that defenses respect his long speed, which is exactly what the Browns were missing in 2020.

It’s easy to envision Wallace developing a close rapport with Mayfield and catching bomb after bomb from the young quarterback. Wallace didn’t get the most consistent QB play in college, which is something that the Browns could help him out with.

The Browns had a good offense in 2020, thanks to great play from the offensive line, Mayfield, and the running backs. Adding the dynamic of a vertical passing game would take the offense from good to elite in a hurry, which is what needs to happen for this team to win a Super Bowl.
