3. Joseph Ossai, EDGE, Texas

The Dolphins were able to get some great production out of their pass rush in 2020, but it was inconsistent. There were games when the pass rush was nonexistent, like the week 16 game against Las Vegas and game against the Denver Broncos. The group could use another piece to round it all out.

Texas edge rusher Joseph Ossai just screams of a Brian Flores player. He has a motor that never stops, and is constantly looking to chase down the ball carrier. Ossai refuses to quit on a play, constantly looking to finish. This is a player that the Dolphins will gravitate towards.

Ossai became a full time edge rusher in 2020, but has the versatility to be moved around. The Dolphins do a lot of what they call “the NASCAR package” which involves all eleven players standing up and most of them essentially “jumping around”. Ossai’s athleticism and versatility makes him a great fit.

There is a very good chance that the Dolphins second first round pick will be someone who can contribute to the defense. The board appears to fall that way, but there is a long time between today and Draft Day. Regardless of who it is, the future is bright in South Florida.
