Browns: 4 free agents who could alter 2021 NFL Draft plans
By Cory Kinnan
2. WR Corey Davis
The Browns will look to add another vertical threat to their offense this offseason whether it is in free agency, in the 2021 NFL Draft, or both. Their current speed is clogging up the intermediate range as the likes of Jarvis Landry and Rashard Higgins cannot threaten deep, nor command the attention of double teams. Corey Davis is coming off the best year of his career and finally looked like the player that was drafted fifth overall in the 2017 NFL Draft.
In 14 games this season, Davis averaged a whopping 15 yards per catch, snagging 65 catches for 984 yards and five touchdowns for the Titans. His catch rate was much higher than any other year in his career at 70 percent, proving to be a true X receiver in the NFL after underwhelming over his first three years. The Titans did not pick up his fifth-year option, making him a free agent this offseason.
There is uncertainty surrounding both star receivers in Cleveland, and the Browns will make the wide receiver position much of a bigger priority than the fans around Lake Erie figure it to be. Signing a true X receiver will damper the need in the draft, but the Browns will still look to add a shifty speedster to become an extension of the run game as well (like the likes of Kadarius Toney or Louisville’s Tutu Atwell).
