Browns: 4 free agents who could alter 2021 NFL Draft plans
By Cory Kinnan
4. DE J.J. Watt
Newly released and on the market for the first time in his career, the former Houston Texan defensive end J.J. Watt will look to explore his options. The Texans will have to now replace their 2011 NFL Draft first round pick. Reportedly, one of the teams that interest him are the Browns after their 11 win season and wildcard win. Watt, should the Browns look to spend big money this offseason, would be a fit either inside or out along the defensive front.
The question is: while Watt has still played at an extremely high level over the past three seasons (even leading the league in double teams while finishing top-ten in win rate), the Browns will be faced with the question as to whether or not they are willing to pay him between the $10-15 million per year range he will command. Watt is playing at a high level, but has missed eight games over the past three years.
A tantalizing target, and one that will be highly productive when healthy next to Garrett, Watt would certainly change the outlook of the 2021 NFL Draft for the Browns. Pass rusher will be an early target for the Browns this upcoming April, but if they land Watt, they could look to wait until the end of day-two or early day-three to add a new edge to their roster.
