There is a lot of noise surrounding the New York Jets pick at number two after the Jaguars presumably take Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, but there hasn’t been a lot of talks about what the Jets should with their other first round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

In addition to the second pick overall, the Jets hold the 23rd pick in the draft. They required the pick in the Jamal Adams trade from the offensive line depraved Seattle Seahawks. The Jets have a ton of holes on their team and could go a lot of different directions with this pick.

Looking at Jets options at pick 23

They could trade back and pick up more picks to a team that wants to get back in the first round. Last year’s 23rd pick got traded from New England to the  Los Angeles Chargers for a second-round and third-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

New York would probably love to get a nice return like the Patriots got last year to help get more starting-caliber talent along the offensive line and secondary. Plus this is a deep receiver draft so the option to stay at 23 is also a good one if they wanted to add a weapon on the outside for whomever they select at 2 if it is indeed a quarterback.

Lets say they stick at 23, here are some options for them to consider in this range.

Rondale Moore, Wide Receiver, Purdue

Like I said above deep draft for wide receivers, I can see four going in the top 12. Moore doesn’t have the height to go up and get catches but he is fast with a reported 4.3 40-yard dash time. With his size and speed, you could probably make a good comparison to Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman. Along with that, he does add value in the special teams game like Hardman does to the Chiefs.

His best season in college was his freshman year in 2018 where he caught over 114 passes for 1258 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was also used in the run game for Purdue in 2018, rushing for 213 yards and two touchdowns. Unfortunately his production dropped off in 2019 and 2020 due to injuries. But when healthy, he was an absolute stud and garnered All-American Honors.

If Moore can be 2018 Moore and be healthy with a great 40 time and interviews at the combine, you could make a case for him at 23 for the Jets. Last year the Jets relied on rookie Denzel Mims and a host of castoff receivers that didn’t work out in their previous stops. I like Mims but the speed of Moore is something you cannot have enough of in the NFL.
