Luckily the Eagles are sitting at sixth overall in the NFL draft, in a top-heavy quarterback class, and have the capital to move up to get their guy. With the way things are shaking out, we know Trevor Lawrence is the guy at one for the Jaguars, and after that, the Jets have a massive decision at two.

Jets have been linked to BYU’s Zach Wilson for months now as him, Justin Fields, and Trey Lance are very close to that second quarterback spot. For me, it comes down to Fields and Lance being the two guys Philadelphia can target at quarterback in the upcoming draft.

Let’s look at Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields and how he could be the next guy for the Eagles.

From an athletic standpoint, it doesn’t get much better than Fields. He’s been rumored to run a 4.4 40 yard dash, which is unheard of at the quarterback position, besides Lamar Jackson (if he had ever ran pre-draft). He’s always been good at taking his check-downs and letting his players get upfield.

Young quarterbacks have a hard time being smart with the football on their third or fourth read, but Fields shows he can protect it and make the right decision. Ohio State’s offense ran a lot of NFL concepts on the outside, and Fields was able to master play action and throws outside the numbers. We could see Fields become an even better passer in the NFL in an offense that lets him take more shots down the field and use his deep accuracy more.
