Here’s a tight end to give the offense another weapon

Despite their offensive woes, Washington did experience the emergence of tight end Logan Thomas. The 29-year-old tight end produced six touchdowns and 670 receiving yards. He is certainly an unexpected piece that can help the offense.

However, he only has so much upside. Thomas played as a great possession tight end, but he is not exactly someone who separates amazingly well. If the Football Team wants a truly daunting tight end, they need someone who can create that separation and add speed.

Chargers tight end Hunter Henry fits this mold. He is expected to receive a large contract similar to Cleveland tight end Austin Hooper’s last offseason. He may be expensive, but he can certainly help the Football Team.

Henry is fast for a tight end and remained fairly productive in Los Angeles’ offense. He adds a different element that contrasts with Logan Thomas’ strengths. Thomas is great at getting short gains and contested catches, but Henry can open up an offense.

Henry had questions about durability coming into the 2020 season, but he did not sustain an injury throughout the season. He has high upside and can be another threat for a Washington offense that needs one.

This acquisition probably allows Washington to avoid drafting a tight end. While having three would be a luxury, the position would no longer be a need. Adding Henry would change Washington’s draft plans, and that means they can focus on improving their offense in other ways.
