Chiefs: 3 free agents who could alter 2021 NFL Draft plans
Mike Hilton, Cornerback
So in case you missed it in the Super Bowl the Chiefs are kind of bad at stopping the pass. This year in all their games played. They allowed over 300 passing yards in 10-games two of which were in the playoffs. They also allowed more than 400 yards in two games this season, they also only had 16 interceptions, however six of them came from Tyrann Mathieu alone. So out of every other player in every other game they only had 10 interceptions, which is less than one a game on the entire team.
Mike Hilton has been sparingly used never starting 16-games, usually coming in as a nickel corner or dime. But, even in limited action he has two-multi-pick seasons. 2021 will be only his fifth season in the league so there is a lot more left in the tank, and even more possibilities for his top-end to come out.
He will help out with turnovers and due to lack of games played and elite stats could be a low-end one-year deal. This would be a decent add on a budget for the Chiefs seeing as how last year he had three picks in just six-games started, and would have been tied for second on the team.
The Chiefs if they can find space should be all over Mike Hilton a young player, who could thrive in an defense if given the chance. This should also suggest they can fix the offensive line in the first round rather than corner and maybe target the in the second round or later. Will Mike Hilton be better than say, Florida State cornerback Asante Samuel Jr.? No, but if there is a top-end offensive linemen there having signed Hilton it would push them to offensive line or an top-end pass rusher.
