The Miami Dolphins enter the 2021 off-season with more assets in April than in March. Depending on the official salary cap number comes in as, the Dolphins will have anywhere from $25-35 Million in available cap space. With that being said, the Dolphins may choose to be very deliberate with their spending. They may go after one big name to fill a position of need and then add short deals to fill other gaps for this year.

The Dolphins spent tons of money in 2020 on players such as Byron Jones, Kyle Van Noy, Shaq Lawson, and others. While 2021 may be a light spending year, there is the potential for 2022 to be another year with ample cap space. Next off-season, the Dolphins can realistically cut Lawson, guard Ereck Flowers, and remake their entire safety room. At that time, the salary cap will not be as low.

What are team needs for Dolphins?

The Dolphins have no shortage of needs despite going 10-6 and nearly making the playoffs. The wide receiver room can be entirely remade if the Dolphins want to. Another running back would also certainly help. An improvement at linebacker next to Jerome Baker is another hot topic among Dolphins fans and media.

In the 2021 NFL Draft, Miami has as much ammo as any other team to improve their roster. Miami has four picks in the top 50 thanks to Bill O’Brien and the Houston Texans. The Dolphins have the ability to bolster their already stellar defense and surround young quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with more weapons.
