Elijah Moore: An under the radar prospect in 2021 NFL Draft
By Hunter Neel
What is 2021 NFL Draft outlook of Elijah Moore?
Moore projects to the next level as a slot receiver who thrives after the catch and maximizing his speed to work into space and gain yards. He is an effective route runner who is a three-level threat but excels in the intermediate parts of the field. He creates consistent separation due to his speed, and effectiveness in manipulating defenders with fakes, double moves, or variations in foot speed.
Moore is a bit undersized and as such would benefit from a heavy slot implementation. Current weaknesses look to be as a blocker, with inconsistent effort levels and a lack of overall technique here. Though due to the profile laid out before, a transition to the outside could be in his future and he might find success as such. He is a bit unproven working off press-man coverage, though shows great footwork that could make him effective with development here.
Overall, Moore should be able to step into an offense and product early on in his career if he lands in the correct situation; he is a fit with the New England Patriots. His effectiveness with the ball in his hand and ability to score from anywhere on the field will appeal to teams early on. He needs further development in terms of route running but the basis is there to build upon, especially due to his success working the intermediate areas of the field.
