Another big position that the Cowboys could target in free agency is the interior defensive line. The 2021 NFL draft interior defensive line class is lackluster this year, so targeting one in free agency could remove that as a draft need, opening up other avenues to target. Dalvin Tomlinson will be the most expensive free agent target in this article, but it’s for good reason.

Tomlinson is one of the best-run stuffers in the league and can instantly become a major impact player for the Cowboys from the interior defensive line position, something they didn’t have last year. With Neville Gallimore showing promise late in the season last year, pairing him and Tomlinson together could make the Cowboys’ defensive line quite formidable.

As stated earlier, the interior defensive line class lacks real top-end talent in the 2021 NFL draft. Signing Tomlinson could open up different possibilities in rounds two or three. With those picks freed up, the Cowboys front office could try and grab a safety, or maybe an offensive tackle or tight end. Signing Tomlinson would not change the first round projection much, however. If this is the big free agent they sign, expect the first round pick to be a cornerback. This signing would take up a large portion of the available cap space, however. Spotrac.com has his market value listed at $11.4 million per year.
