3. Eagles trade down with QB needy team

While this isn’t about a specific player, trading back could be the best choice that Howie Roseman could make.

Currently, the Eagles are in the process of rebranding the roster. The main need for the Eagles is currently at wide receiver, cornerback, and tight end, assuming they fully believe that Hurts is the future. In addition to those three, the Eagles could also be looking for Jason Kelce’s future replacement. With the Eagles sitting at roughly -$34 million in cap space, improving the roster through free agency seems unlikely.

A few potential trade targets could be the Carolina Panthers, the San Francisco 49ers, the New England Patriots, and the Chicago Bears, who all could be quarterback shopping during the draft. Keep your eye on San Francisco. With a talented roster, the 49ers could be just a quarterback away from being contenders once again. If General Manager John Lynch and Head Coach Kyle Shanahan truly like one of the top quarterbacks in this draft, they won’t be scared to make a deal.

A trade would look something like this, thanks to the help of NFL’s Mock Draft Database:

49ers receive: 6th overall

Eagles receive: 12th overall, a 2021 4th round pick, a 2021 5th round pick, a 2022 2nd round pick and a 2022 5th round pick.

With the draft order still needing to be set due to compensatory picks yet to be announced, it is tough to see the overall value of the fourth and fifth round selections. Regardless, adding four extra picks to the only drop six spots could be an ideal situation for the Eagles. The chances that one of the top three wide receivers or Kyle Pitts still being on the board are decent, which could ultimately allow for the Eagles to pull the trigger on the trade. If all four of them are off the board, then look for Philadelphia to grab a cornerback.
