As we wrap up skill-position player rankings in the 2021 NFL Draft, we move on from the running backs to a very unique group of tight end prospects. For a historically thin position group, this TE class of 2021 is filled with star power throughout. From top-ten talents to mid-rounders that could make an immediate impact, the tight ends offer tremendous value this year.

Take a look as I rank these versatile pass-catchers and chess piece players in my next top-10 rankings list of the 2021 NFL Draft. There are great players from each conference, and each prospect should find a spot on an NFL team before the end of the third day this coming April.

Pitts way above the rest of 2021 NFL Draft tight ends

Florida’s Kyle Pitts and Miami’s Brevin Jordan are seam-stretching vertical threats that appeared neck and neck at the onset of the 2020 college campaign. However, Pitts was a touchdown machine in an explosive passing attack for the Florida Gators this season. He scored 12 touchdowns and truly separated himself from the pack with his play-making ability. Among a ridiculous group of talents in the Gators’ offense, Pitts stood out in 2020.

In the process, he endeared himself as quarterback Kyle Trask’s favorite target. Pitts is an elite tight end prospect and probable top-10 2021 NFL Draft selection. Daniel Jeremiah recently labeled Pitts as the “overwhelming favorite” in this rookie class to make the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The elite prospect is a solid blocker in the run game and can provide a top-notch option in the red zone right away as a rookie. Pitts has Darren Waller-type upside at the next level and could go as early as the top-6.

2. Brevin Jordan – Miami (Fla.)

Brevin Jordan is another top talent from a school with a rich history of success at the tight end position. Jordan could follow in the footsteps of other premiere TE hopefuls like Jeremy Shockey, Greg Olsen, and Jimmy Graham. Each of these past Miami greats has become top players in the NFL. Jordan made an instant impact as a freshman and provides a soft pair of hands that can make tough catches look routine.

Jordan is that top dog and has an alpha-type mentality that can become a go-to player for any quarterback at the next level. Injuries and inconsistent play at the quarterback position hindered Jordan’s production at Miami, but his upside is excellent for an NFL prospect. Jordan could be selected as early as the top-20 of the 2021 NFL Draft.
