Jets make trades galore, land haul in 7-round 2021 NFL Mock Draft
Day-three of Jets mock draft
Round 4, Pick No. 107: Monty Rice (LB, Georgia)
An instinctual inside linebacker, Rice is tough against the run but also took a step forward in his pass defense last year. Had 49 tackles with five quarterback hits and a sack last year. Can and should grow into a starter in a season or two.
Round 5, Pick No. 147: Josh Myers (C, Ohio State)
It has been way too long since the Jets took an interior offensive lineman (or made a trade for that matter, but we digress). Myers represents the Jets’ third pick this draft along the interior of their offensive line and while the Ohio State product won’t start this year or maybe even in 2022, he has all the tools to be a starter for the next decade for the Jets if he’s developed right.
Round 5, Pick No. 156: Caden Sterns (S, Texas)
There is some work to do here with Sterns, who is a bit suspect at tackling. But Sterns is athletic and reads the game well, adding some much-needed depth to the Jets secondary. And this draft has to be about adding depth as much as it is about getting star talent.
Round 6, Pick No. 188: Larry Borom (T, Missouri)
A multi-year starter at both guard and tackle, it could take a couple of seasons for Borom to compete for a starting job. But as a swing tackle and in certain packages, he adds an important piece for the two-deep.
Round 7, Pick No. 249: Ian Book (QB, Notre Dame)
The jury is still out on the potential for Book, who was productive and a winner with one of the top teams in college last year. Mechanical questions persist but he is an interesting option to have on the sidelines for the Jets and see if anything can develop here.
