Without the NFL Combine this year, pro days will be even more important for 2021 NFL Draft prospects who are hoping to make a name for themselves. Thus far, we have seen explosive showings from a handful of prospects, and one of those names is the tantalizing Texas Longhorn left tackle Samuel Cosmi. Already on the radar of NFL teams, Cosmi is skyrocketing after his pro day.

The Longhorns’ draft-eligible players held their pro day on March 11th, where not only Cosmi, but quarterback Sam Ehlinger, safety Caden Sterns, Cosmi, and more held their workouts. How did Cosmi perform, you may ask?

Looking at Cosmi’s pro day

After a successful season with the Longhorns, a year where he compounded upon his sophomore season, Cosmi was already a hot name. He then kept the momentum rolling into his pro day, where he wowed everyone in attendance. Cosmi measured in at just nearly 6-foot-6 and 314 pounds, with 33 inch arms.

He then began his testing, running a blazing 4.85 40 yard dash; his ten-yard slit came in at 1.68 seconds, and his 20 yard at 2.75 seconds. He jumped nearly 10 feet in his broad jump and 30 inches in his vertical jump, then capping his pro day off with 36 reps on the bench press.

Cosmi tested in the 92nd percentile above in all of his speed and agility drills. This capped him off with a close-to-perfect Relative Athletic Score.

What does this mean for his NFL Draft stock?

Even before his pro day, Cosmi was in the first round conversation, now it would be completely shocking to fall outside of the top-32. With a ton of need at offensive tackle, expect them to fly off the board by the time April comes around. Teams like the Cincinnati Bengals will get the party started at offensive tackle, with plenty more to fly off the board afterward.

With his ceiling looking to be with the 13th overall pick to the Los Angeles Chargers, Cosmi’s floor ends up right around the 19-21 range where the Washington Football Team, Chicago Bears, and Indianapolis Colts pick back-to-back-to-back, and all are in need of a new, young offensive tackle. Long story short, Cosmi will have plenty of suitors as the 2021 NFL Draft nears closer.
