Dax Milne – BYU

The 49ers might not have a shot at landing Zach Wilson in the first round, but they could have a shot at drafting the receiver who made his life significantly easier at BYU.

Likely to be available on day three, Milne has flown under the radar throughout the entire draft process but has a skill set that compares well with that of Bourne and could find early playing time for San Francisco, who have seemingly yet to make an effort to re-sign slot receiver, Trent Taylor.

Milne has demonstrated the ability to win with his foot quickness to create quick separation that he can maintain, making him a threat on downfield concepts as well as in the short and intermediate areas.

He has shown the versatility to play in the slot as well as the outside, though his defining trait may well be what he can do at the catch point.

A hands-catcher who possesses excellent concentration, Milne is extremely competitive at the catch point and boasts tremendous body control, allowing him to make impressive adjustments to the ball and bring in extremely difficult catches near the sideline.

The kind of dependability Milne displayed at BYU was a part of what made Bourne a UDFA success with San Francisco. In terms of finding a receiver they can rely on at a low price, the 49ers could hardly do better than Milne.
