3. Sage Surratt, Wake Forest

This is the player who would mimic the role that Kenny Golladay played for the Lions. Surratt is a big-bodied receiver who thrives in contested catch situations. With a good ability to create late separation by using physicality, Surratt can haul in 50/50 balls on a regular basis. He might not be the same caliber of athlete that Kenny Golladay is, but he can be that deep threat that sticks because he’s so consistent.

With athleticism becoming more and more important by the day, the odds that Surratt holds a wide receiver one status in the NFL are slim, just due to the fact that he is not dynamic enough. However, every team needs the guy they can always rely on.

Surratt has good hands and he seems like a natural as he extends his arms to pluck the ball out of the sky. If the Lions are selecting their first wide receiver of the 2021 NFL Draft on day three, there might be a problem. However, with Marvin Jones Jr. also departing in free agency, this pick could be more suited to replace him as a second wide receiver after selecting a dynamic top guy earlier in the NFL Draft.
