Browns: Talanoa Hufanga an intriguing chess piece in 2021 NFL Draft
By Cory Kinnan
What would Browns have to give up to get Hufanga?
Looking at the current draft profile of Hufanga, the Browns may have to use their second round pick in order to secure the services of the USC safety. It seems highly unlikely that Hufanga will stay on the board by the time the Browns come back on the clock as the second day of the draft comes to a close. However, as he can fit a ton of needs, both at the second and third levels of the defense, the price may be one the Browns are willing to pay.
Drae Harris of The Draft Network breaks down the game of Hufanga:
"“Talanoa Hufanga was a versatile defender for the Trojans defense. He is a safety by trade but has aligned in multiple places due to his diverse skill set. He is a violent tackler who seems to enjoy the physical aspect of the game. His mental aptitude allows him to easily align in multiple places. He has made strides in the passing game, evidenced by his four interceptions this season. He is an instinctive player who plays the game with a violent edge.”"
John Johnson III, Ronnie Harrison, Grant Delpit… Talanoa Hufanga?
Needing massive overhauls to their defense, the Browns could certainly benefit from the chess piece that is Hufanga. The question is, however, if he is not taken in the second round, will he last until the third?
