Jaguars leaning towards Mac Jones with first overall pick
By Cory Kinnan
As we are now less than a month away from the 2021 NFL Draft, crazy rumors have been flying off the walls around NFL circles. First the talk has been surrounding Justin Fields and how he may be slipping down the boards, but now we have another rumor regarding the Jacksonville Jaguars and the first overall pick in the draft.
While Trevor Lawrence has been the hot commodity to covet over the past three seasons, there is now reason to believe that the Jaguars may be leaning towards Alabama quarterback Mac Jones instead. Jones, coming off of a Heisman-finalist season, has been rising up the boards, and some think the San Francisco 49ers have traded up to land him.
But do the Jaguars really think Jones is their guy of the future over Lawrence as they hold the first overall pick this upcoming draft? You cannot believe everything you hear.
Are the Jaguars really leaning away from Trevor Lawrence?
No. No they are not, and happy April Fools!
Lawrence has been the belle of the ball in NFL circles for three years now, and that will not change now that we are less than a month from the 2021 NFL Draft. The Jaguars and new head coach Urban Meyer have their franchise quarterback, and there is little that will sway them.
While there is mystery with the rest of this crop of quarterbacks, the first overall pick is all but locked in at this point. You are safe, Jacksonville. Go ahead and buy those Lawrence jerseys! The best prospect since (or even before) Andrew Luck will not slip through the fingers of the Jaguars as we near the main event itself. Enjoy the rest of your April Fool’s day!
