Team needs for Patriots entering 2021 NFL Draft

Need one: Quarterback

Cam Newton did get re-signed, but he is on a one year deal and if the Patriots are given a chance of selecting one of the top quarterbacks in the 2021 NFL Draft, they will most likely take it. Cam Newton was incredibly productive on the ground in 2020, but his production through the air took a massive nosedive. Whether that is his talent falling off, or is a result of injuries and COVID is the question that people are wondering. Sitting at pick 15, it might take a trade up to land a quarterback, but the need is still there.

Need two: Linebacker

With the signings of Kyle Van Noy and Raekwon McMillan, the need at linebacker is not as drastic as it was before free agency. However, those players should not keep the Patriots from pulling the trigger on a top linebacker if given the chance in the draft. With names like Micah Parsons and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah headlining this linebacker class, the Patriots have plenty of options to contemplate.

Need three: Wide Receiver

Much like the previous two needs, the Patriots touched on this position in free agency, but not to the point that it completely eliminates the need. Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne are nice pieces, but neither of them are guys who can carry the workload of a WR1. In addition, N’Keal Harry has done almost nothing for this offense. Jakobi Meyers has been a nice bright spot in this wide receiver room, but with a class as elite as this one, the Patriots can really get a game changer at the position.
