A fringe contender finds Jayson Oweh

Tennessee Titans

The Titans were likely a great pass-rush away from being one of the best teams in the NFL last season. Tennessee has an extremely solid roster across the board, but the one area of drop-off is at outside linebacker.

Signing Jadeveon Clowney looked like a good fit on paper, but the unit never found its footing. Clowney only played half the season, and the signing of free agent Bud Dupree could mean the end of the Clowney experiment in Tennessee.

Dupree was a great pass-rusher before his injury and should fix some of the deficiencies in that area, but Tennessee needs to build for the future as well.  Considering their 3-4 defense that would allow Oweh to flaunt his athleticism in a low-stress role in year one, Tennessee needs to have him on their radar.

The Titans don’t have many glaring needs as it stands. The key positions have primarily been addressed other than a shutdown corner, and they wouldn’t miss out on Oweh by spending their first pick on their secondary. Oweh could be available in the second, and his athleticism could entice a team like the Titans to trade up in the second round to take him if he is still available.

The Titans have a decent second edge in Harold Landry, but Oweh only helps the unit with depth. By taking a chance here, the Titans protect themselves in the event of an injury to Dupree, and they continue building the unit for down the road.
