Giants: 2021 NFL Draft primer as they ride high of Kenny Golladay signing
The New York Giants are picking outside of the top-10 for the first time since 2017. With their best season in four years, the Giants can make a big splash in the draft to make a push for the playoffs. Typically, a team picking at eleven doesn’t make a genuine run for the playoffs in the next year, but the NFC East is open for the taking. In 2020, the Washington Football Team won the division with a 7-9 record.
The team that finished right behind them, however, was the New York Giants. There was a controversial game played by the Eagles that resulted in the Giants getting knocked out of the playoffs in week 17, but the fact that they were so close to the playoffs signals good things for the 2021 season.
Where do the Giants go from here?
In 2020, the Giants defense showed some big progress, especially in the secondary. After investing heavily into the secondary, it finally paid off for the Giants. First-year head coach Joe Judge was better than many expected and after another year of working with Dave Gettleman, he will continue working to build the team the way he wants.
The front office has not been living up to expectations, but with all the past picks growing into their roles, and an upcoming pick at eleven overall, there is a chance they can contend for the playoffs with the Washington Football team. Drafting a player who will start on week one is a must for this team, and Dave Gettleman will be hard-pressed to draft the right guy in the 2021 NFL Draft.
