Looking at offseason moves thus far in Philadelphia

The big move that the Eagles made this offseason was trading Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts. They traded Wentz in exchange for a 2021 third-round pick, and a 2022 conditional second-round pick that can become a first-round pick if Wentz plays over 75 percent of snaps for the Colts, which is very likely. The noteworthy moves the Eagles made this offseason came in the form of trades, not signings, as they are in a tough cap space situation. In addition to the Carson Wentz trade, the Eagles shook the NFL Draft world by trading down from six overall to twelve overall.

The trade netted them another first-round pick in 2022 which means that will have at least two first-round picks next year. This trade greatly changes the Eagles’ strategy in the draft. When they were sitting at six, many thought they would be targeting a quarterback, but moving outside the top-10 takes them outside of that conversation. The Eagles seem to be sticking with Jalen Hurts in 2021, and their draft strategy should reflect that.

Aside from the trades, the Eagles didn’t make any major moves in free agency. The only one of substance is really the Joe Flacco signing, and that won’t move the needle for anyone all that much. They have also recently re-signed running back Jordan Howard and signed former Minnesota Vikings’ linebacker Eric Wilson.
