3. Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida

Florida wide receiver Kadarius Toney is dynamic. He is quick and is almost similar to new wide receiver Curtis Samuel in many ways. However, Toney is expected to go in the first round, which is a bit rich considering his profile. Right now, Toney is a quick and versatile athlete who can add speed to an offense. He is also underdeveloped as a route runner and needs some manufactured touches to truly work as a player in the offense.

Toney is pretty good, but is he the right pick for Washington at 19? Considering the team’s acquisition of Curtis Samuel, he probably is not. Washington did a lot of work of adding receiving weapons in free agency, but Toney does not seem like someone who truly benefits the team in his current role.

Players like Minnesota wide receiver Rashod Bateman seem to be a better fit for the team currently. Taking a wide receiver is not a bad decision for the team, but there will most likely be more complete players who are just as quick on the board.

Washington could benefit from adding more wide receivers for their offense, but Toney’s role is already filled and he is not a complete enough player to help them as a true wide receiver right now. Considering other options at the pick, it seems as though the team should stay away from selecting Toney, despite his upside.
