The NY Jets have more needs than just about any other team in the draft and after jettisoning Sam Darnold, those needs only increased. They are also changing from the 3-4 to a 4-3 defense. However, that doesn’t mean every player in the draft is a right fit, or at least not at their current draft value. We can get caught up in player abilities over need and that won’t be overstated this draft, as there are some elite talents all over the board.

While it seems like quarterback will be the first pick for the Jets, they also have another pick in the first round.

The second first round pick could go several ways there seems to be more than enough offensive guards, corners, and edge rushers around the 23rd pick in the draft. After the addition of Corey Davis from Tennessee, I would not look for them to even attempt to target a wide receiver there.

What the Jets lack is talent, what they do not lack is the ability to get draft picks wrong.

What prospects should NY Jets avoid?

There are a lot of hyped-up players in this year’s draft due to the lack of a combine we are seeing some crazy numbers at pro days. We are seeing the media throw lots of guys around that shouldn’t be at higher-end picks or rounds they don’t belong in. The Jets need to stick to what they are planning to do filling out the new 4-3 defense and surrounding their rookie quarterback with a solid offensive line and a defense to make sure they can succeed.

One of the most glaring needs for the Jets after the quarterback is the running back position, but the Jets should not get over-hyped on a class that offers a lack of top-end talent.

Let’s take a look at three guys in the 2021 NFL Draft the Jets so fly far away from.
