What moves did the Bears make in the 2021 offseason?

The Bears made some big moves in the offseason, but which ones were the most impactful?

The most important move the Bears made was franchise tagging their best offensive player, Allen Robinson. Despite thoughts that Robinson wouldn’t sign a franchise tag and force the Bears to move on from him, he is staying in Chicago in 2021 and the team and fans could not be happier. Robinson, even with sub-par quarterback play, has been one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. Looking at who the Bears brought in to be their quarterback, it makes sense that they pushed so hard to keep Robinson.

The next player the Bears acquired that drastically changed their team was at the quarterback position. The Bears went out and signed Andy Dalton after his Stint with the Dallas Cowboys. Dalton came in for Dak Prescott after his injury last year. This move for the Bears is interesting, because he was not great as a starter last year, and he is expected to be the Bears starter. However, we will not know how it will turn out until the season starts.

Other moves that deserve to be highlighted include the restructuring of Khalil Mack and Eddie Jackson’s contracts; not re-signing Mitchell Trubisky, and signing Cairo Santos to a three-year extension to lock down the kicker position.

Heading into the draft, the Bears are going to focus on their needs, which will be listed on the next slide.
