Packers: Elijah Moore can bring much-needed reliability at slot receiver
Background on Packers target Moore
It should not be a surprise that Moore is set to be drafted highly, given he spent his formative years at a breeding ground for NFL talent, St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, which counts the Bosa brothers, Geno Atkins and Hall of Famer Michael Irvin among its alumni.
A four-star high school recruit, Moore changed his commitment to Ole Miss having originally agreed to play for Georgia. He still blossomed in the SEC despite rejecting the program with a more recent history of success in the sport’s toughest conference, though his 2019 season is best remembered for an infamous moment in the Egg Bowl.
Moore celebrated a touchdown against Mississippi State by pretending to be urinating dog in the end zone, leading to a penalty that pushed the extra point attempt back 15 yards. The kick was subsequently missed, and the Rebels went on to lose their rivalry game by a point.
He put that incident behind him, however, and in 2020 received acclaim as a first-team All-SEC selection and Biletnikoff Award finalist, earning that recognition due to production that would have been even greater had he not opted out of the season after the first eight games.
Excelling in the speed and agility drills at his pro day, Moore heads into the draft having confirmed his physical prowess. He received a Relative Athletic Score of 8.68 out of 10 for his strong workout.
