Day-one option: Christian Barmore, Alabama

In a weak defensive tackle class, the top guy by a wide margin is Alabama’s Christian Barmore, who solidified himself over the backstretch of his national championship season. He immediately enters the conversation to become the 17th pick in the draft after the Raiders moved on from Hurst. In fact, it appears Barmore is shooting up draft boards as teams are anxious to get one of the only guys.

He finished his redshirt sophomore season with a massive eight sacks, nearly 10 tackles for loss, three passes batted down at the line of scrimmage, and three forced fumbles. After a massive 2020 campaign with the Crimson Tide, he then went to his pro day, and tested in the top 18th percentile of defensive tackles historically with a Relative Athletic Score of 8.22.

Production mixed with the ability to run a sub-five second 40-yard dash makes Barmore a tantalizing option and the only option in the first round for the Raiders. As the Raiders look to plug the hole that a couple of aging veterans cannot plug, the Raiders could find themselves in the market for Barmore as they come on the clock in the middle of the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
