Raiders: 3 Maurice Hurst replacements in 2021 NFL Draft
By Cory Kinnan
Day-three option: Darius Stills, West Virginia
If the Raiders decide to wait until day-three of the 2021 NFL Draft to replace Hurst, they are going to find themselves in a world of hurt. However, if they must, West Virginia’s Darius Stills is a low floor, but high ceiling player worth a day-three flier. While his twin brother opted to return to West Virginia, Darius decided it was time to take his talents to the next level.
He was more productive as a junior for the Mountaineers, racking up six sacks and 12 tackles behind the line of scrimmage in 12 games. In nine games in 2020, however, Stills managed only seven tackles for loss and three and a half sacks. He is also quite undersized, so teams will either need to have a plan of attack for him or take him at a pick where the risk of size outliers is minimal.
At his pro day, however, Stills tested off the charts, running a 4.97 40-yard dash, hitting 32.5 inches on his vertical jump, over nine feet on his broad jump, and testing in the top three percent in his three-cone drill. He finished with a Relative Athletic Score of 8.16, and his score was weighed down due to his size. He could be a fit for the Raiders if they wait until day-three to replace Hurst.
