The Denver Broncos have reached a critical time in their rebuilding stage where the roster, on paper, looks good enough to contend for an NFL championship. New general manager George Paton has worked tirelessly this offseason to fill the Broncos’ most pressing needs through free agency so he can focus on taking the best player available during the 2021 NFL Draft.
As they sit with the ninth pick in the first round in just eight days, there is no telling what direction the Broncos will turn their attention to. Will they look to trade up for one of the big four quarterbacks? Will they sit still and hope one like Justin Fields falls to them? Will they take the best player available, or will they trade back?
With a new regime, the Denver Broncos still have questions to answer
After a season that saw the Denver Broncos only win five games and finish in last place in the AFC West division, John Elway stepped down (or up) from his role as general manager into a higher executive role with the organization. This paved the way for Paton to get hired and take the reigns in Denver.
With questions surrounding quarterback Drew Lock, the future of the secondary, and the future of life after Von Miller, Paton has his eyes on the 2021 draft class to possibly answer some of these questions. While the Broncos might be able to aim for the best player available, that doesn’t mean there aren’t certain players that Paton and head coach Vic Fangio should avoid. Here are three prospects the Broncos should avoid in the 2021 NFL Draft.
