The Panthers offseason thus far

The biggest move was the trade for Sam Darnold at quarterback, but Curtis Samuel at wide receiver could be just as big a loss. He was a talented playmaker alongside D.J. Moore, who is no longer there. Heading into the off-season there were already questions surrounding what they would do at quarterback. Those questions about quarterback were answered, but more questions came about.

As they let go of:
Curtis Samuel, Wide Receiver
Chris Manhertz, Tight End
Mike Davis, Runningback
Chris Reed, Offensive Guard

All of whom played more than 50 percent of the snaps last year. Notably Mike Davis filled in well for Christian McCaffrey during his injury spurts.

Outside of trading for Sam Darnold, the additions seem a little lackluster.

Pass rusher Haason Reddick and AJ Bouye at cornerback were the most notable additions at places of need. However, AJ Bouye is past his prime, but was given quite a team-friendly contract. Reddick blew up last year getting 12.5 sacks and six forced fumbles for the Cardinals. Unfortunately that was by far his most productive season of the four he has spent in the league. That could be a gamble that does not pay off well for them, or this is the start of a solid career.

They also signed:
Denzel Perryman, Linebacker
Dan Arnold, Tight End
Pat Elflein, Left Guard
Cameron Erving, Left Guard

Those were all positions of need, but they went for lower-names. It is worth noting that Elflein and Darnold were on the same team last year, so that could help both players in their new home.
