The Atlanta Falcons have done such a good job at disguising what their draft plans truly are. The team is commonly linked to either a quarterback or Florida tight end Kyle Pitts in mock drafts across the internet, but the idea of taking an offensive lineman or even better trading back has sat on the table for quite some time as potential avenues the team is exploring.

And to make matters harder, the team has not had many leaks as to what direction they are leaning. In the current climate, the Falcons are the cardholders and focal point of the 2021 NFL Draft, as they are in the driver’s seat with so many potential avenues to explore.

Falcons split on what to do at pick 4

Last week reports came out that the Falcons brass is currently split on what direction to go with the fourth overall pick. ESPN Insider Chris Mortensen shared this rumor, saying:

"“What I’m hearing is that [Terry] Fontenot is more focused on a quarterback, and Arthur Smith believes that Matt Ryan does have two or more years left. He has no real medical history, he hasn’t missed many games in his career and there hasn’t been a big drop off in his play.”"

This is just more proof that the Falcons have done a great job at keeping things close to the chest and not sharing which way they are leaning on who to select. Now, as stated, the Falcons have so many directions they can explore and have done a great job at keeping all options open. However, while the team is commonly linked to Pitts at four, here is why he should not be the selection.
