Falcons could instead look towards QB of the future

Now, having too many playmakers is never a bad thing, and Arthur Smith’s offense would take very well to a player like Pitts, but the Falcons roster is just not deep enough to truly justify it with better options potentially on the board.

The number one thing the Falcons should look to do is prepare for the future. The team has the fourth overall pick, meaning they were not good this season. You can look at the roster and see plenty of holes on the defensive side and along the offensive line. That in itself is enough justification to trade back, but the plan is never to pick this high again, and instead of forcing yourself to trade future assets for a quarterback, why not make it now, even if it is a “year too early”?

The top two options here are likely to be Justin Fields or Trey Lance if the team chooses to go quarterback I’m not sure they could go wrong with either. With how mobile each quarterback is they would fit Smith’s offense very well and be great players to sit behind Ryan for a year.

Now, say the Falcons do not want to go quarterback and believe in the future with Ryan at the helm. This opens the doors for a variety of options at their disposal. Of course, the most common one is Pitts, but the team could also trade back to amass capital and build out a bare roster that lacks depth across the board.
