LSU Football has become an NFL gold mine, similar to their SEC foes Alabama. This year we could see three LSU players going in the first 60-picks of the 2021 NFL Draft. In JaMarr Chase and Terrace Marshall Jr at wide receiver and Jabril Cox at linebacker. Jabril Cox will possibly be the latest of the three players drafted, his upside is fantastic. The NFL seems to be a bit short on inside linebackers at the moment, and he could fill that void.

In 2020 he had 58 tackles to go along with one sack and three interceptions.

He profiles well as a three-down linebacker who can do just as well in pass coverage as he can at stopping the run. While he is a little undersized for his height at 6-foot-4 and 231 pounds, I would look for the weight to get closer to 250 by week one. Cox, at this weight, should be able to crack the 4.5 area in the 40-yard dash.

Cox transferred from NDSU where Trey Lance is currently coming out to play at LSU.

His stats were far more impressive at NDSU than his one lone year at LSU. During his time his best season was 92 tackles, nine and a half tackles for loss, five and a half sacks, seven pass breakups, and an interception. Cox totaled six picks in his time there and played in 15 games all three seasons. He is durable, fast, and dynamic. The NFL is hoping they can get more of a 2019 season out of him than 2020 where he cracked 90 tackles a season both times.

Where does Jabril Cox coming out of LSU Football program?

Sadly, for Jabril Cox, there are a lot of elite defenders in this draft. In other years I would expect him to be in the back-end of the first round. This year though it looks much more likely he finds himself in the second round. With his weight pushing him down a little bit, and the massive amount of talent in other positions. I would be surprised to see him go any later than the early part of the third round. He profiles well in any 3-4 system and could be an interesting outside linebacker and nickel inside for a 4-3 team.
