Round 3, Pick 82 – Dyami Brown, WR, Washington Football Team

Washington finds a potential starter in the middle of the third round in a position that was a significant weakness for them in 2020.

Round 3 can really separate a good draft from a great draft, if teams use these mid round picks to find value at any position, perhaps even a potential starter. The Washington Football Team certainly did that with the selection of the North Carolina product at pick 82.

Dyami Brown was a late riser in the pre-draft process and was even receiving some first round buzz right before the draft. Many prospects’ draft stocks rise throughout the draft process for inexplicable reasons but for Brown, any of his positive buzz was backed up by his production. In his junior season in 2020, Brown caught 55 passes for almost 1100 yards and 8 touchdowns. Additionally, he caught an outstanding 20 touchdowns in two years. Watching him play, it is not hard to see why. Brown has excellent speed, quickness, acceleration, and ball tracking ability. On almost any pass play, he is a threat to score a touchdown and will be a perfect complement in Washington next to Terry McLaurin and newly signed, Curtis Samuel.

Speaking about Washington’s wide receiver group: out of the 2260 receiving yards accumulated by the position group in 2020, Terry McLaurin accounted for 1118 of those yards, or 49.5%. The Washington Football Team did add Curtis Samuel in free agency from the Panthers but needed to keep adding talent there, something they certainly did with the Brown pick.
